ISSAQUAH MAKE MUSIC DAY

INTERNATIONAL MUSIC DAY

TUESDAY, JUNE 21st

5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The Issaquah Singers will be singing at 7:30pm

Issaquah is making music on Tuesday, June 21 in celebration of Make Music Day. Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world every June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fete de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 700 cities and 120 countries when musicians take to the streets, sidewalks, and parks to play. Entire communities come out to listen, dance, and join in making music. Each community organizes its own events, and each celebration has a distinct expression.

In Issaquah, musicians are taking to the streets in Downtown. There will be several outdoor performance areas and many non-traditional indoor spots. Outdoor areas include City Hall Steps, Historic Train Depot, Library Corner, Pedestrian Park, Tiger Mountain Stage located next to Pelage Spa and the Historic Shell Station. There will be an open mic and sign-up sheet available on a first come basis in the lot North of Music and Arts located at 170 Front Street North. Indoor venues include the Senior Center, artEAST, Art By Fire, Yum-E Yogurt, Capri Cellars and Vino Bella. The list of musicians includes Circus Alley, Train Wreck, Game of Tones, Pete Reed, Bryan Miles, Juice Bruce, Tasty Waves, Cygnus, Redondoes, Rum of Faith, Strum, Travis Harnett, Jason Groce, Issaquah Voice Studio, Issaquah Singers, Swing Time Jazz, Sam Foster, PhlatPhive Music, Save the Bees, School of Rock Issaquah, Sonorous Strings and Cry Daddy.

Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician, young and old, amateur and professional, every musical style take part to perform. All the performances are free and open to the public. None of the performers are paid and all contribute their time for free.

A schedule of venues and musician times will be available at the event. Everyone is invited to participate in the All Instrument Flash Mob on the steps of City Hall at 6:00-6:30 performing Louie, Louie. Join in the fun – bring your instruments and a small amplifier and let’s make some beautiful music together.
